"It is important that the 2012 Games leave a lasting legacy benefiting London's diverse communities. Getting involved with helping local grass roots sports clubs is an excellent way anyone can help achieve that legacy." - Cllr Paul McCannah, Chairman of London Councils' Grants Committee
The London Events Volunteering Calendar grew out of the GLV 2012 Volunteering Legacy project. An event was held in March 2009 to celebrate the successes of the project and identify 2012 volunteering legacy priorities for London.
The event included project highlights, presentations from keynote speakers and themed workshops on sports, arts and culture, environment, events.
Delegates were invited to contribute to a London Volunteering Legacy Time-line and to respond to key questions around the volunteering legacy. Networking and matchmaking opportunities were available throughout the day.
